In this department, chemotherapy treatment is utilised to remedy cancer. The three mainstays of treating cancer are considered to be surgery, radiotherapy and medical oncology. Medical Oncology involves the use of drugs to treat cancer by killing or destroying the cancer cells. This type of treatment focuses on curing the patient, prolonging the patient's life, relieving symptoms and facilitating a better quality of life for the patient, subject to the degree of the disease at the time of discovery. Many new chemotherapy drugs have been introduced in the recent past that assist in making sure that these goals are achieved.
