Interventional Radiology

Interventional radiology is a medical sub-specialty of radiology utilizing minimally-invasive image-guided procedures to diagnose and treat diseases in nearly every organ system. We have state of the art angiography suite with Philips FD 10 installation. Our radiologists are experts in treating various interventions including the complex peripheral, aortic & neurointerventions.

Interventions for Vascular diseases

Vascular diseases are pathological conditions related to damaged arteries and veins. Our body uses arteries to carry oxygenated blood to the body parts & veins to carry blood back to the heart and lung for purification. Vascular diseases occur when arteries turn thick or get clogged by clots and this stops blood flow to the brain, kidneys or any other body organ. Some disorders also lead to bleeding inside the body. Types of vascular disorders include aneurysm, peripheral artery disease, varicose vein, Deep vein thrombosis. Our specialised doctors treat a complete spectrum of vascular diseases using nonsurgical minimally invasive technique thus offering safer & effective treatment option.

Non vascular interventions

In non vascular interventions, a tube or stent (small mesh tube) is used to open up blocked ducts. This treatment can be offered for obstructive jaundice to allow bile to drain from the liver or to drain urine in cases of ureteric obstruction due to tumor in the lower abdomen.

Oncological interventions

Delivery of cancer-chemotherapy agents directly to the site of a cancer tumor is possible with chemoembolisation for liver cancers thus limiting side effects of cancer therapy & morbidity. In radiofrequency ablation, tiny radiofrequency needle is placed in tumors to heat and kill cancerous tumors in liver, lung, kidney or bones & thus obviating the need of major surgery.
